Managed to keep a level head and stay smart for at least 2 of 4 laps. Then I started getting ancy and found myself up front more than I should have been and doing more work then I should have been. However, with team dayton consuming 20% of the 50 riders spots available, I had to try and contain their solo rider attacks and blocking.

On the last lap I was out front for the last 2 miles or so as the pace began to pick up and everyone was trying to get positioned for the finish. I was unable (un-willing maybe :) ) to get off the front just a bit. At 300m away, my legs were already burning and at 200 meters I was unable to hold my positioning and feel to 5th overall.

As always I learned a lot and looking forward to the next one!

Good race with a decent finish and put a serious hurting on myself chasing Dan Payton from Champion City Cycling after the well played attack from his team. We all knew it was going to happen and we all worked very hard to stick it. Nice job to Jacob Henningsen from University of Cincinnati for sticking the chase and winning the race! Racing is so much fun!

Although it was a great day for racing, this is a race I never do well in. Started out with a field of about 55. With my rather timid style of racing, it took me 2 laps to move up through the field. By this time 6 guys already managed to make a break and not to be seen again. On lap 5 I went off the front by myself and stayed off for one and a half laps. By the time the field caught me there were less than 20 guys left in the pack. I was spent and none of the guys left seemed to be interested in chasing the break. We noodled around till the group sprint where I never do well. At least had a good workout.

This race felt a lot like Zanesfield where two guys went off the front fairly early. We had a small group that made an attempt to work together and catch them, but it did not materialize. I made a one lap solo attempt to bridge the 90 second gap but did not have the legs to get there... fell back into the group and did not have much left for the sprint.

Great race, but the scoring is off. I placed higher than a few of the girls who came in after me? It was a little bit of confusion with the multiple categories and registration. Guess I was registered in the wrong category, so I'm not really sure how I placed...hmmm better luck next race with only 2 women's categories.

35th - I had three goals for my first race this year: Finish, beat at least one person, and not have the girls lap me. All three accomplished!

My goal was to try to stay with the pack for as long as possible, which has been a challenge this spring, but I hoped the flat course would make a diffrerence. Stayed longer than usual but still got peeled off early. Managed to pass a few other stragglers and keep the bunch in sight for a while. Flatted and that was the end of that. Flatted again the same tire later in the race so there's some sort of issue there that will be resolved this week. This race had better support than I remember seeing on the rest of the series- My hat's off to the organizers for a job well done.
