Imagine my surprise when I pull up at 10:30 and think, "Man, a lot of people are warming up early for a noon race?.....?". Then, "Oh sh!t - I forgot they start this one at 11am!". So I hustled to get all my gear on, get registered, and spun a couple laps around the parking lot before race start to get 'warmed up'. Good start though, first to the bottleneck and then up and around the front across the dam. 3rd into the woods behind Cato and Tony, but was just off their speed enough that I could only keep them in sight in the distance. Rode most of the second lap with 2 guys pretty close behind, then one of them dropped off when we went back across the dam. The two of us took turns across the dam, then it was on once we got off into the gravel paths back to the start finish. I led into the gravel and sprinted hard enough at the end to wrap up 3rd by a few seconds. Fun stuff! Congrats to Tony and Cato, they were on it today.
