Break-Away Bicycle Club Time Trial

For those of you who prefer riding on flats instead of hills, this is the course for you. This series of TT is held in the flatlands of northern Indiana--in Kokomo, IN to be exact. Roughly 30 riders attended this event. Most were USCF-licensed men or citizens men. There was one tandem, one junior, and two USCF women. Due to steady 10+ mph winds out of the NE early this morning, riding out to the turnaround point felt way too easy. Of course, a price was paid after the turnaround with incessant headwinds and a road that seemed to stretch out forever in a near perfectly straight line.

It turned out to be a good day for a TT except for the wind speed. Seems like there's always something awry with these TT's. Everyone I talked to complained about how strong the wind was on the way back. The only shelter came when the trees were blocking it from the North side of the road. I quit looking at my speed on the way back and decided to slug away at just one gear.
The course was nice and flat and straight except at the turn around. The only problem with a straight course is that there's no place to hide from the wind or temprarily recover.
I finished the TT at 1:00:59. I'm not at my target for the year, but I'm making progress. The changes I made this week to the bike worked well. No muscle soreness this time. I just need to work on the seat tilt and maybe get a little more seat height.
