This race was cool I mean there was a hot dog stand 20ft from the finish, Tim actually paid out, and the course couldn't have been better. So the race went good, I had a blast, but I could have sworn Mrs.LuAnne was gonna pull around me at the finish...but she didn't. Thanks everyone for cheering for me it was super nice. Thanks sooo much Jeremy you really helped me out before the race and you were so rite...see ya at Windsor.

Thank you Becky for all the support, I love you and I am so blessed! Thanks to my Mom and Dad, you guys are the best parents in the world! I hope I will be a good parent and do all the things we have done. Thanks to the Savage Hill Cycling Team I heard you yelling, but also to my teammates in the race. It would have been to hard for me to keep up, but with you guys pulling back everything it made it easy.

I am sorry I didn't beat Jared Babik at the line. When your mind tells you to do something do it. I think Rob Rhodes wrote He who hesitates is last. Well, I did everything I could to be first until that last lap and it feels like last place knowing I should have won. Anyway, I told myself to go and I didn't, then I told myself to go again and I didn't. So I waited till Jared made his move which was the same time I wanted to, but it was to late. House was on the inside of me and that changed everything! I had to go outside of everyone and then go around Jared. Ten more yards and I had him for sure!

I am so blessed just to be able to race or ride. I thank you Jesus for all the choices you give to me. I thank you and give you praise that I am able to do the things I do. I thank you for my Wife, Caylin, Family, Friends, Teammates, Workers and Racers! Thanks for keeping me safe Lord. Amen.

State Crit Championships, Long Street, Cbus. I wasn’t going to race because ive been running for the Chicago marathon (bad idea #1) but on wed I did a long run and Wed Night Worlds and felt good, so I thought: why the heck not. Really, why not play chicken with the train?

My parents came down so I had to try.

We did 50 laps of what must have been a half mile (or less?!?!?) course….if felt like I was tossed in the dryer with a couple a fabric softener sheets and set on tumble. I almost puked at the end; im not sure if that was from 1 of the 300+ turns of the huge efforts. Decent field present. I think I was in a break for 46 of the laps (bad idea #2).

I gave Grimm my best lead-out at the finished and rolled in for 4th, good……enough.

Thanks to all the Sav-Hill boys for showing up and throwing down today.

Props to Craig Smith for almost winning the 3 race.

Craig’s a Cat 4.

Ask Tim Swain about his MTB race in Purdue the week before, apparently it’s kind of a big joke with the OSU team

I think im doing a half Ironman on Sept 18th, this has bad Idea written all over it…..Look for a funny story to follow, well that or me at the bottom of a lake with a swim cap on.

Its Sat Night, I am home alone, and I am watching the Animal Planet Network, don’t tell anyone.

This was kind of a test for me. I hadn't done a crit all season or better put since 1995 when I was a junior. With this being four corners and flat I also didn't think I could hold on till the end in a break away group but I did. Thank you Daniel for working with me and making the break successful. Even though we ended up getting third and fourth. Lesson learned for me is don't do almost all of the work and expect to win. I am happy though that I did finish where I finished. It would have been nice to be a bronze carrier in both events but I will settle for at least handing it over to a teammate. Look out for the future. Our Juniors are looking good.

This was a fun race. The course was a bit bumpy, but it allowed me to see just how much my cornering has improved. The field got split in the begining, the strange thing was that I never gained on the lead group, but I was always able to maintain contact with the women's field. The women caught me, so I followed them and kept their pace, and NEVER made contact with the lead group. i raced well, and I can't complain. Congratulations to Brooke on her victory.

Oooh, I got fifth. Sounds pretty good till you hear the gory details.

We have our standard crit up to the point the masters catch us and then the two fields start playing tag, in a messy sort of way. We pass each other like 3-4 times. I keep my eye on the 4 and do my best to keep up with them, Somewhere in the chaos 4 of us get away with about 10-15 Masters. On the last couple of laps I sit in to rest to take a drink and stay there a bit too long. The 4's pop off the front and the masters take off after them and find myself unable to move up in the field. And then we hit the field sprint and I straggle in at the back of the pack.

Ug.

Kudo's to Jeff Yencher and Dave Tingler for helping to cover the breaks in the first half of the race.

Earlier the day of the race, Gamm tries to fix my rear derailler at his workplace. Found out my shifter is shot...lovely. Thanks for the efforts. We can make a trade...a 10 speed shifter for some A&F clothes.

The race was a maybe without my crit ride, until about 4:00 pm. Luckily, I live close to the venue (is that a good thing??) The weather was nice and I wasn't doing keg stands at an OSU tailgate....so, why not.

The race was listed as a 3/4, but I roll up and realized it was a 3 field. Could of raced with the 4's and had some teammates. Good course except the bumps, bumps, and more bumps. I took a flier for 5 laps or so. I loved the headwind and that not one sole even tried to bridge. Later on I made the split and we were 6 strong...should have been the race but we could not get it organized. yada, yada...With 1 lap to go I made a suicide attack to get into better position for the finish...lesson learned and disaster was merely avoided. Salvaged what I could after the cooked turn.

Great job to all of the savages.

My first crit of the year was something that I was not exactly looking forward to. Luckly the crit course was easy and the field size was small. I could tell that I did not have the zip that I would have had in a normal season this time of the year. It took me about ten laps to settle in and remember how to ride a crit. In the end it was nice to see all of the team out there racing. Where was Will?

25 in the masters field. All age groups race as one. Took 6th overall and 2nd in my age group. Jumped in the Cat 1-2, which was lighting fast and lasted 5 plus laps.
